In Urkund there is a option in the settings named "Sources" in which you have to uncheck the box " Include documents in this inbox " so that multiple times you can check the same document with Urkund. It wont show high similarity percent. I personally verified.
Most of universities and research intuitions in the world presently using Ternitin and i-Thenticate anti-plagiarism tools to check the similarity index in the manuscripts submitted because of large size of database is one characteristic. Urkund also occupy standard position for checking the similarity Index in the universities of the world. Indian universities under UGC as an example. The discipline engineering is not issue for that.
Thank you sir for sharing valuable information. Kindly tell me why there is lot of difference in similarity index of urkund and i-thenticate. What is the percentage of similarity (not plagiarism) permissible in good quality journals?
I have also requested a full text of Plagiarism Detection of Doctoral Theses: Current Indian Practices and Functionalities, kindly send it
I checked a paper with Urkund and Turnitin. The result was shocking. Urkund shows similarity 5% but Turnitin gives 90 % similarity with perfect references for the same.
Although I have limited knowledge about Urkund but why even think of any other software when TurnitIn offers a comprehensive and accurate similarity index. I still recommend TurnitIn for checking the similarity index. Real researchers use the term similarity index for the integrity of their research.
The use of word 'plagiarism' be avoided for the sake of research and its integrity. Because 'plagiarism and similarity index operate parallel i.e. If the similarity index is beyond acceptable threshold and shows copying/reproducing work of others without proper acknowledgement is obviously 'a plagiarized work'.
Can I submit a draft paper in Urkund, without the option to store it in its index? So that when I submit a final version, it would not show as plagiarised text. Any suggestions. I know, turnitin has this facility not to store in the library, It would give me a chance to rectify the unintended copied/plagrised like text.
The answer is No while checking the same text checked by Urkund and Turnitin, Urkund result did not match with Turnitin. I have the evidence that a research scholar submitted his final Ph.D. text to the particular university in the state of Maharashtra to check the plagiarism through Urkund at the outcome, the Urkund shown 6% similarity while the same text when checked by the Turnitin it has shown 0% similarity. If the result is differing one from another, how to justify the plagiarism check through a software tool
