I just learn that there is another type of scale besides Stevens (1946). It is called the summated scale. Can anyone help me to understand more about it . Any latest article on summated scale ?

Summated scales aren't that common, but they are used every now and then, and can be validated using the familiar structure equation modeling methods. See, for example, VandeWalle, Don. "Development and validation of a work domain goal orientation instrument." Educational and Psychological Measurement 57.6 (1997): 995-1015. This article is available fairly readily through SAGE's online sources. The Spector book is a good text for how to work with such scales: Spector, P. A. (1992). Sage. The method is mentioned in the 2011 Bernard " Research methods in anthropology" book, so I think it's still in use.
