i have carried out engine oil analysis but results require proper analysis. i have attached the file. request give remarks in respect of increase of benzene ethyl area which should otherwise decrease due to degradation
You should focus on volatile or high-boling compounds. If you select volatiles (like benzene) your method is acceptable (did you optimized the split value regarding the concentration of analytes in your sample?).
For high-boiling compounds (even docosane - b.p. approx.370 deg.C) the injector temp. (300 deg.C) is to low - you should use 370+15 => 385 deg.C. Otherwise you will have strong discrimination in split mode (i.e. the same mass of docosane will result in much smaller peak area comapring to benzene). Generally for high-boiling compounds a splitless injection or on-column should be used.
What type of stationary phase you selected for this application?
For first screening you should use a 100% PDMS. You can switch to FID det. and make a Simulated Distilaltion - this will reveal how the boiling point distribution of your sample is changing. You can check this papers:
