This scaphopod resembles close to Antalis entails ????? can anyone confirm this please? The bigger tusk shell measured 47mm and the smaller 41mm. It also looks close to A. vulgaris??.
would be great if you could share the UNPUBLISHED list of Dentallidae from Pakistan waters. Thank you so much!!
Dear Delahoz,
yes it has many fine thin ribs nearly invisible to the naked eye unless you take a closer look. It is not completely smooth! That's why I had the doubt as A. vulgaris also!!. Thank you so much. Do you have any related publication on this species?
Certainly not vulgaris or entalis, but Tesseracme quadrapicalis. Quadrapicalis is at the first glance no typical Tersseracme because the square tip is only seldom preserved but fine striation at the tip is always preserved. at posterior third of the shell. I can supply you with further information.
I can supply everybody who is interested in scaphs with 2 databases (MS Access 2000 format) on species and literature. They show all known species, their distribution, diagnosis, know figures etc. A query "Persian Gulf" shows the follwing species for the region, as far as literature and my collection will notice it.
T. quadrangulare is very common at Kerala. There some shells with a perfect tip are to be found (see picture taken by my friend V. Wiese, from the Shell Museum "Haus der Natur", here in Cismar, Germany)..
you mean Tesseracme quadrapicalis right?? It would be really helpful if you can share the MS Access 2000 format on species and literature for scaphopods if possible. I am sending you more images on the species we have collected. Thank you very much.
