The best treatment for carbon monoxide poisoning is Carbogen, which is a therapeutic mixture of oxygen and carbon dioxide in a pressurized tank. The most common mixture consists of 5% carbon dioxide and 95% oxygen. Both carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide share the unique (among atmospheric gases) chemical characteristic of inhibiting the binding of oxygen atoms to the hemoglobin molecule. Carbon dioxide stimulates respiratory chemoreceptors, and displaces carbon monoxide from hemoglobin to restore normal oxygen transport. The therapeutic benefits of carbon dioxide have been extirpated from common medical knowledge on account of what I call “The Great Medical Hoax of the 20th Century” and is explained in a book of the same name that is now for sale on Amazon.com. I also recommend reading “Four Forgotten Giants of Anesthesia History” (see attached) which reviews the pathophysiology of carbon dioxide. This is a glaring example of corporate corruption that seeks to profit at the price of public health.
