every type of plant cell has the ability of totipotency and if there is shortening evidence of telomere region in plant genome then new plant come as a result of totipotency should have already shorten telomere.. Is that so?
yes, there is a telomere shortening in plants especially in vegetative tissues (since telomerase is not expressed). Shortening does not occur in reproductive and dedifferentiated cells which maintain their telomeres via telomerase activity.
