Currently, I'm trying to extract mangosteen rind via a cold extraction process for skin care product development. The mangosteen rind was dried and grounded which was then macerated with ethanol 96% for a total of 3 days. Evaporation of the solvent was then carried out with a rotary evaporator which produced a thick brown extract. Is there any way to remove/reduce the pigment contained in the extract? I have read in some cases the extract can be boiled with activated charcoal, however, it is for the removal of chlorophyll, will this work as well for mangosteen extract?
