I want to know how to screen plant materials for the presence of xanthones and benzophenones. This will help me start with a research project on plant species in the Philippines which are xanthone-rich, aside from Garcinia mangostana.

The solvent system can be set by Chloroform and Benzene and the observation should be done under ultraviolet lights with an indicator of a known band of xanthones or benzophenones.
