It would be difficult to judge without specific criteria. The arms of the weighing balance would probably seesaw between G. cambogia and G. mangostana. In terms of experimental studies, the former seems to weight a bit more with a more reports on the phytochemistry and experiments. But in terms of traditional usage, the latter is more versatile on a range of health benefits. But it is also important to note that the medicinal claims are not fully established, and that hey are linked to severe adverse effects, particularly the former.
Amit Mirgal As per my knowledge, G. indica and G. cambogia (gummi-gutta) both are very valuable species as both contains 15-16% HCA and also gives high amount of butter. Moreover, G. indica is used in many traditional as well as commercial purposes. G. cambogia is used in many weight reducing agent (e.g. Himalaya Ayurslim). However, the Queen of fruit remains G. mangostana, as it tastes different from other Garcinia species.
Arvind Singh and Manmohan J. Dobriyal Thank you so much for your addition. I think I am somewhat agree to the Manmohan J. Dobriyal sir. In our region G. indica is very popular for everything in health. It is also endemic to this region, so it has importance. But the distribution of G. indica and G. cambogia is different in our country.
