I am trying to run a engine attached to a generator but as I run the simulation the engine stops working and its speed goes to zero?! I tried to increase or decrease the engine power but it will be unstable. Any idea?
More information:
Load= 3 phase resistive load 500kw
Generator: 1 MVA Synchronouse generator
Engine parameters:
Maximum power: 1200e+3 W
Speed at maximum power: 4.5e+3 rpm
Maximum speed: 6e3 rpm
Stall Speed=500 rpm
Inertia: 100 kg*m^2
Hi,
Try to load the engine after it has been started. I mean start the with zero load on generator and then increase it once the engine has been stabilized. This should solve your problem.
If that doesn't, then you need to tune the engine parameters sightly to generate more torque in the idle speeds. Changeover to Speed V/S Torque tabulation instead of Normalized 3rd order characterization of the engine.
