I'd look into doing your study at the Copper Ridge Institue in Sykesville, MD if that's a viable option for you. Their website is http://crinstitute.org/. Good luck!
I mainly work on the epigenetic modifications induced by the environment and the Frailty Syndrome (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3028599/), but in the context of the Smart City project, I have dealt also with quality of life of older people in general. Maybe my approach is too clinical, but my background influences me!
I remembered that during a summer school I met my fellow VINCENZO GALASSO, who has conducted several studies on this topic.Try searching among his publications at link below
I am part of a group that is looking at doing a trial period of sitting the older clinically indicated patient, in an acute medical ward, out of bed for meals. Although this intervention is evidence based for many reasons, nursing staff often do not have the underpinning knowledge as to the importance of this action. The trial will be supplemented with an education program and will be looking at the sustainability of such a trial and the education intervention.
I'm engaging on a research about Frailty Syndrome and brazilians oldest-old. This group was chosen because it's the most growing group of Brazil and world. We're looking for related factors (sociodemographics and clinicals) and trying to make a model of clinical management to frail elderly.
