In Thailand, there have been several recent large-scale Malaise trapping projects but none of these was specifically directed at the canopy so far as I am aware. You might like to contact Wichai Srisuka (wsrisukaatgmaildotcom, and also on researchgate) at the Entomology Section of Queen Sirikit Botanic Garden. He has a huge quantity of invertebrate material from these projects. QSBG is constructing a large canopy walkway at the moment and Wichai is planning to use it to trap in the canopy I understand so it is possible they might get material for you. Coleoptera were collected and sorted to varying degrees in TIGER, High-Land Project and the current "Twin Peaks" project I am involved with so it is possible that there are already bottles of mordeliids in a freezer in Chiang Mai
In my personal collection I have a small number of specimens (mostly in ethanol, a few dry) from Sabah, Malaysia., which I'd be happy to send to you. In our collection at Naturalis Biodiversity Center, we also have large numbers from malaise trapping in Vietnam, but all of those are kept dry, I think.
Does this help? Please contact me at [email protected] if you would like to obtain the specimens from my private collection. For the ones from Naturalis you may like to contact the collection manager Hans Huijbregts.
Dear sir, if you need more collections of beetles, you may have visit western Ghats of India where you will get enough number of new beetles for description.
A Japanese entomologist, Dr. Hiroaki Kojima, Professor of Tokyo University of Agriculture, is also investigating canopy fauna in SE Asia. He is studying mainly systematics and ecology of the Curculionoidea. I hope he will help you.
