Intraarterial induction chemo proved to be effective in several trials (especially in oral cancer) but clinicians did not follow the method because of some technical difficulties. These difficulties, however, can be overcomed today quite easily. High-dose chemo with 150mg/sqm cisplatin administered over transfemoral approach and superselectively can be used as a well tolerated neoadjuvant induction treatment before surgery.

Prof. Aigner at Medias Hospital in Burghausen (Germany, Bavaria) is routinely using this method. he has an open trial.

Thank you. I know Prof. Aigner and co-operate with him. Head and neck cancer is not his main target of research. I am thinking of countries like Japan or India where head and neck cancer is even more common than here. I know about a few trials there but I hope to find some more via ResearchGate.
In our site, alredy in progress a prospective trial of intra arterial chemo for abdominal sarcomas. Indeed, technology for that is availa le here and Kowalski's group has a lot of colleagues fond of that strategy, such as dr Joao. Best regards
I wrote to Luiz Kowalski with regard to head and neck cancers but he did not answer yet. You mentioned a sarcoma trial which is very interesting. In this context, please allow me to recommend a book edited by Aigner/Stephens: "Induction Chemotherapy: Integrated Treatment Programs for Locally Advanced Cancers", published in 2011.
I do think it is very interesting, and needed but we need to know more about efficacy,tolerability and toxicity..

I appreciate your doubts but recommend you to read my papers on intraarterial induction chemo where I proved in hundreds of patients that this kind of treatment has great efficacy, very high tolerability, and nearly no toxicity. I really think that doubts like yours which I hear and read quite often, stem from former experiences and are no longer valid.
