is there any way I can define a tie constraint or fuse two solid sections together starting at a certain step in ABAQUS ? I am using the model change interaction and so some sections I want to tie are not available until a later step, so I would need to define it a certain step. I tried a Surface-to-surface interaction but there is still some sliding in the y-direction between the two solid sections.
if you go with regular route, the answer is NO!!!
however, there's a trick you can give a try...create a surface using surface elements between the two solid surfaces...use this new surface elements to tie each solid surfaces using both side of surface elements. use *model change keyword to activate or deactivate the surface elements (hence the associated tie constraints).
