Earlier, I could get germination of cotton seed 3 years old. But now it is not happening. No seed has germinated when sown in soil. I have some more seed with the lint still on it. Is there any growth regulator kind of treatment to induce germination?

the first thing that comes to my mind is whether there has been a change in the method of seed storage. Improper storage conditions will radically reduce the seed viability. In that case, no growth regulator would help such seeds...

Dear Bozena Sera thanks for the reply. Usually, we keep the seed cotton without ginning and previously I could get germination even after 3 years. Unfortunately, they are not germinating now. As you feel, it could be changes in the micro-environment of storage. I will also check for long term dormancy. Thanks again for your interest.

Hello, yes, there is a method to induce germination, you can use gibberellic acid to impregnate the seeds before sowing, also potassium sulfate.
