Is there any theory related to cognitive ability and cognitive style?

I was working with the impact of cognitive ability on technology adoption.

In many papers, I found, researchers measured impact on cognitive ability and cognitive style on users' perception on technology.

But no authors provided any theory that would cover both cognitive ability and cognitive style.

Can you please suggest me any theory related to both cognitive ability and cognitive style?

I am not sure weather it will work for you, but you can search for theory of constructive operator proposed by Pascual-Leone. It integrates both Witkin's study of field dependence and piagetian study of cognitive development.
