I would appreciate if any one shares with me if there is any theory of economic growth, which discusses about the role of energy especially electricity in Economic Growth and development.
I am doing a thesis on the interconnectedness of Economic Growth and Electricity consumption in Ethiopia and I wanted to include a theoretical literature on the theoretical relationships between Economic growth and Electricity Consumption. I have seen some of the Growth models but didn't get much. Can you send me the link of these documents you recommended?
Dear Ephrem, the relationship between energy and economic growth is widely studied in economic theory and empirical analysis. In the case of electricity, access and coverage is a key determinant of development opportunities, particularly to less developed countries. Some of the main issues are the quality of service (related to infrastructure investment) and the sustainability (related to the role of renewable sources). Electricity consumption is a good proxy of income level as well. I would suggest you take a look at these papers:

Article Electricity Consumption and Economic Growth: A New Relations...
Is it possible to get a full study about the causal relationship between Electricity consumption and Economic Growth that I can follow? (I have a lot of Articles but they are a kid of summaries of the main document).
I don't know if it is quite what you have in mind, but Timothy Mitchell's 'Carbon Democracy' talks to this at a very macro-scale of understanding capitalism through forms of energy extraction and the particular sets of relations around it
LEt me know what you find out. I would imagine that oil and gas, because it is a big ticket item, would serve as an economic growth engine unless the price of oil and gas goes up to high, then it would be a contrary indicator.
