In order to give a clear conclusion for my study i have to rank the statements based on their severity !!! So is there any statistical tool which I can use to give rank to the statements
Generally, in Social Science, the preferences of a certain attribute is measured with Likert's Scale (1 = Strongly Disagree to 5 = Strongly Agree with respect to a statement that measures on a certain factor). However, the scale has some criticism as a narrowed one and mostly in use. In order to overcome this problem, the scale can be widen to articulate the nature of attribute to agree with a statement, like from 1(0) to 7, 1(0) to 10, or 0% to 100%. If you really have problem of using Likert's Scale in your study, the degree of acceptance with your statement to measure an attribute of a factor can be measured with percentage (0% - 100%) and this can be useful to speculate even a small differences in respondents' preferences, rather than using narrow scale (1 to 5). Alternatively, the percentage scale can be useful to devise models for ratio variables, since percentage represents ratio variables too.
Hope this will help you. Good luck in your studies.
Dr Parameswaranaik J., depends on your objective, if you want to compare variables, you must apply non-parametric methods, if you want to study the relationship between variables, you could see the association between 2 variables with Chi squared and / or Fischer's Exacta, if you want see multiple relationships advise a multiple correspondence analysis
If the no. of statements are less up to 7 you can go method of paired comparisons or even Gutman / scalogram analysis . you can us these even If statements are more qualitative in nature requiring fine discretion between each. otherwise if statements are mere descriptions of technology/ opinions of people that is less subjective you can go for RBQ, Grand weighted mean will do.
