You can gather 24 hrs dietary recall by just interviewing the person on three consecutive days and then you can take average intake for one day of calorie or whatever nutrients you are looking for. This is the common practice in India

In Karnataka we use a standard katories for assessing the food intake of individuals, later we compute that intake using Annapurna software wherein we get all the macro and micro nutrient values.

we used a 24h recall method for assessing the dietary intake of women of reproductive age in Mali (West Africa). From my experience the 24hrecall questionnaire is not standard, but first you design it for your study. Gibson and Ferguson (2008) provided guidelines for that. Then you need to standardise your questionnaire with your interviewers, by a good training and testing the questionnaire among your study population, but the women participating in the questionnaire test should not be part of your study sample. Hope this held.

Not sure if there is really a standard questionnaire to assess the 24hr dietary recall for pregnant and lactating mothers, what I know about 24hr recall method is that you ask food consume for the past 24 hrs, what you need to have is a technique to ask the questions because there is tendency of not mentioning some foods. also it dependens on the objective of the study because you can have a column for name of food, time consumed and estimated food consumed if necessary. time will help you to track the food consumed for the whole day, also you may wish to collect the receipes of certain types of food. THE MOST IMPORTANT IS HOW TO ASK (PROBING) THE QUESTIONS DURING DATA COLLECTION AS PREGNANT WOMEN HAVE COMPLICATED DIET TYPE DEPENDS ON THE SITUATION ONE HAS.

The US National Cancer Institute developed an Automated Self-Administered 24 hour recall called ASA24, http://riskfactor.cancer.gov/tools/instruments/asa24/. This was work led by Dr. Amy Subar at NCI. There is an adult and children's version (which Dr. Tom Baranowski led at Baylor). It was patterned after the USDA AMPM work. I don't know if they specifically handle pregnant and/or lactating mothers but would think they would. It is also free. Great tool.
