PPS is known to resist to several chemicals. Does somebody have any experience with PPS etching?
Ph-O-Ph (diphenyl ether), NMP (N-methylpyrrolidone) and CHP (N-cyclohexylpyrrolidone) are best from available and relative safe solvents for PPS ( poly(phenylene) sulfide ). Sulfolane and hexamethylphosphoramide (HMPA) are also suitable; DMU and DMI as solvents are interesting but not refered in anywhere.

Did you try concentrated sulphuric acid? Not sure, but, possibly that might work.
PPS is soluble above 200oC in aromatic and halogenated aromatic solvents.
