Despite the existing violence and instability boiling up in the Middle East, English language teaching and learning play a vital role providing unprecedented opportunities for the afflicted people to reach normalcy and hope for the future. English education not only boosts the likelihood of returning to a normal healthy life , it also increases the chances of coping with everyday problems when the conflicts and calamities have been resolved and the catastrophes have ended. In brief, English education for the Middle East refugees is an insightful planning about future demands.
The role of English is fundamental to increase the chances of success and achievements for refugees. this goes without saying and this must be even more significant for refugees who are struggling in the context of social instability and political plight. however, it is also important to remember that preserving indigenous cultures and languages is especially important in those contexts as the undiscriminated use of English (for example as the only means of teaching/learning at school) is a system to destroy local culures and languages. Refugees can be then in the position of suffering from a double form of violence: political/social and cultural. So promoting English tout court is not a solution in my opinion.
After saving food and the main life needs, I think it is favorable to learn English language to at least convey and share their circumstances to others.
