Tremor is a brief occasion that doesn't last over 5 mins. When a tremor has finished, it will be expected that the soil support recovered its initial state. However, there might be a marginal reduction in stiffness. Thus, during the next tremor, the machine won't have issues if high safety factors are considered in the initial design. Soil material can be model by springs subjected to compression but not tension. Thus, you can utilize a seismic isolator (damping system) foundation to prevent the propagation of the tremor waves to the machine foundation. A machine foundation must be designed to avoid settlement antagonistic to it serviceability and failure due to bearing limit inadequacy. I suggest that you review relevant publications on machine foundations under seismic loading.
