Soil dissolution requires larges amounts of strong acids, like H2SO4 and HF (this one is very toxic and difficult to obtain and maintain due brazillian standarts). So, I was looking for any method that access soil total P which do not require soil dissolution through the use of strong acids. Thank you.

Another method is to use HCLO4, also in the same book mentioned. This method requires special additions and extraction of toxic fumes, due to the digestion to which it is subjected.

I have used an alkaline hypobromite method originally proposed by Dick and Tabatabai (1977) quite successfully. P can then be determined colorimetrically or by ICP analysis.

If You have microwave oven then use conc. nitric acid 10ml + 100 microliter of HF per 0,5 g of soil in first step, in second step add 2-4 ml of hydrogen peroxide 30% to decompose organic matter. High pressure and focused energy work fine. If You don't want to use strong acids use XRF
