The role of RAS in cardiovascular and renal system has been known from earlier times. Also, role of RAS in modulation of free radical production and cellular synthesis of molecules like cytokines, chemokines and transciption factors have been studied. Further, use of anti RAS drugs or RAS blockers as antiinflammatory and immunomodulatory agents have been proposed and application of RAS blockers for treatment of autoimmune diseases have been studied.
