Is there any reference of plant origin for determining the ploidy status of unknown algal sample?

We would like to undertake the experiment of determining the ploidy status of samples of Ulva populations collected from entire Indian coast. It would great, if some one can help me in knowing what plant reference should be used for this purpose. Also literature pertaining to this would be of great help.

We have BD Accuri C6 Cytometer, BD Bioscience, USA machine in our laboratory.

hello, as I know, there are two databases you can search:

http://www.tropicos.org/NameSearch.aspx?projectid=9

and :

http://data.kew.org/cvalues/CvalServlet?querytype=1

it seems like still no chromosome number reports about Ulva, but the genome size data of three species of Ulva spp. can be found in Kew database.
