Robert Agnew's General Strain Theory can be a valluable heuristic instrument in many fields of Sociology. However, as the theory originated from criminological research, the main theory is oriented to its own field. Therefore, using the strain concepts in other fields seems to be an unnatural translation of the criminological concept. Is there any publication of Agnew or colleagues on the non-field specific implementation of General Strain Theory?

Agnew, Robert. "Foundation for a general strain theory of crime and delinquency." Criminology 30.1 (1992): 47-88.
