i have synthesized the bioglass ceramics materials using sol-gel method and calcinated at 800 degrees to obtain volatile free ceramics powder. but when measured for its size in DLS, it showed variable size ranging from 1500 to 2000nm. my objective is to develop nanoscale material. so i prefer to change my synthesis method. can anyone suggest me possible succesful methods to develop nano bioglass materials?
Actually, Sol-gel was a standard synthesis method which replaced many traditionaly followed protocol like melt quenching etc. other than that there is advanced method called microwave and ultrasound sythesis can be used. but it requires more advanced instrumentation..

With DLS measurement it is not easy to judge whether the obtained size range (1500-2000 nm) is from agglomerates or primary particles.
Please take in consideration that the nanoscale you looking for is depends on the primary particles size rather than the agglomerated particles.

What is the methodology you're following? The Quick-alkali method is a good method to produce nano-bioactive glasses.
I have carried out a lot of experiments using this methodology, and I've produced particles ranging from 100 up to 200nm.
As other people cited, you may be observing agglomerates rather than single particles in your DLS experiments. If you have a High Resolution SEM, It may be helpful to you to comprove the glass particle size.

This is the original paper of the quick-alkali method. On my synthesis, I only change the drying process. Instead of drying in a incubator at 60° C, I dry in a freezing drying up to 48h.
In order to dry in a freeze dryer, you must freeze your samples in a -80° C freezer, or cool your samples in a liquid nitrogen.
