Fruit sucking moth is very difficult to manage on sweet orange in Maharashtra (India). Is there any pheromone for fruit sucking moth Othreis fullonica or O. materna?
It would have to be a strong plastic that can withstand the haustellum of Eudocima (=Othreis) species. If the moth can pierce the skin of an orange or lemon (and other citrus species) then it should have no problem getting through a thin plastic....
for synonymy of genera under Eudocima, please see Moths of Borneo 15&16 at http://www.mothsofborneo.com/part-15-16/calpini/calpini_4.php, and for synonyms of Eudocima phalonia, (includes, O. fullonica) see the same publication at http://www.mothsofborneo.com/part-15-16/calpini/calpini_4_7.php - especially the "taxonomic note" wherein fullonica is specifically discussed.
As Prof. Udikeri notes, no pheromones are available for Eudocima species (also see http://www.pherobase.com/database/invasive-genus/genus-Eudocima.php). and his suggestion of baiting should be viable. I have used "mothing sugar" in Hong Kong with limited success (as an additional method to light trapping for moth recording), though Eudocima spp were amongst those seen by this method.
