A majority of the studies use Mann-Kendall's (MK) test to estimate the trend in climate variables. Is there any better non-parametric method similar to MK? If yes, kindly provide the name or literature link. Also, when we run MK test (I do in XL stat), we get MK Tau statistic and Sen's slope. Though the Sen's slope gives the magnitude of change for the climate variable under study, what is the implication of MK Tau statistic? Can someone enlighten the difference between two estimate interpretations?
