For analysis of contaminants like As, Se & Te in sulfur sample by ICAP spectrometer, sulfur sample has to be dissolved in acid or some organic solvents prior to the analysis. Ashing/ combustion method may lead to the vaporisation of the above mentioned contaminants as well along with the sulfur.
The sulphur has to be converted into its ionic form such as sulphate salts by some oxidation reaction. otherwise sodium nitroprusside can be used to form color with sulphur to esimate. One can try.
The best solvent I know for sulfur is toluene. benzene is also good.
