My question revolves around the degree of infection (onset), appearance of symptoms, the extent of illness and the possible outcome among COVID-19 patients. Do their respective blood groups as well as the specific rhesus factor make any considerable differences?

That blood group A was associated with a higher risk for acquiring COVID-19 compared with non-A blood groups, whereas blood group O was associated with a lower risk for the infection compared with non-O blood groups.

In view of the report based on studies carried out among Europeans one thing should be underlined that the blood type A with positive Rh factor is normally the most prevalent blood type in Europe, so it makes sense that most infected people would be one with A type blood. Although the O group follows closely behind as the second most common. The situation will be better understood once the worldwide ratio of blood groups of the affected patients, be it asymptomatic or with symptoms, comes into view in my belief.
Is the lack of any parental antigens and antibodies on the RBCs of O group providing them an edge to it than other blood groups? Especially in events of cytokine storms which I believe to be the major causative factor behind the fatalities.
Those who did not think that there existed any link between infection and blood groups or even the inclination of a particular group towards susceptibility may kindly justify their choices.

In a study, A, B, and Rh+ were found to be more susceptible to COVID-19 infection, whereas blood groups O, AB, and Rh− are at a lower risk of COVID-19 infection.
