I am trying to devise a general method for logical inference based upon induction and abduction on temporal datasets. Fundamentally the purpose is to represent ways in which humans (and in particular, historians) collect information and reorganize them.
As far as I understand from your question, you want to create an interface for end users so they can manage the events (or temporal entities). You can define an event by its start and end time ( If I get what you mean by induction and abduction correctly). I think, Allen's Interval algebra may help your situation, where 13 different relation type is defined between events. What are exactly temporal dataset? Are they documents? In which format are the informations?
And how do historian, for example, collect them now? Do you have a study?
I was trying to understand a couple of things:
1-when you talk about collecting, are you referring to search, document triage, document organization, or document storing?
2-And when talking about logical inference, are you talking about an abstraction of the cognitive reasoning of people during one of those activities, or are you talking about common practices related to one of those activities?
