Hey, does anyone know of papers or experiments relating to different cortical layers in the precuneus/ pcc region. Especially relating to the role of this region in self related processing?
For PCC, you should start with the work of Brent Vogt.
Like "Cytology and functionally correlated circuits of human posterior cingulate areas" and "Cingulate cortex of the rhesus monkey: I. Cytoarchitecture and thalamic afferents."
Given your functional interest, you should look at "Posterior cingulate, precuneal and retrosplenial cortices: cytology and components of the neural network correlates of consciousness." I also highly recommend his Cingulate Neurobiology and Disease book, if you can get access to it.
An fMRI study of syntactic layers: Sentential and lexical aspects of embedding. Shetreet, Einat; Friedmann, Naama; Hadar, Uri. NeuroImage 48.4 (Dec 2009): 707-716.
.......The comparison of verbs that can take CP complements with verbs that can take NP complements, when these verbs appeared with prepositional phrase complements, revealed activations in bilateral anterior MTG and precuneus, showing that embedding also affects processing at the lexical level.......
