I am doing a research where I need to see how the wet(moist) unit weight of soil changes with increase of rainfall intensity. Or, is there any formula describing the relationship of infiltration and rainfall intensity.
A Formula I cannot say. But a Model that describes the relationship will not only isolate the unit wet weight of the soil with change in rainfall intensity but consider other properties of the soil ranging from organic matter to texture and even viscosity. And for such, the experiment may be easier simulated in a Laboratory and thus a resulting model would still be considered as empirical.
I would rather focus on the relationship between rainfall intensity and soil moisture content at different depths. This invariably determines your infiltration. You could somehow relate it that way.
Such relationship doesn't exist, unit weight is subject to soil micromorphology and infiltration the dependent on the particle size of a particular soil mass, but rainfall intensity, and infiltration are having a relationship.
