Problem-Based Learning (PBL) has been used in medical and health-related education for over 40 years. Team-based Learning (TBL) has been tried in some schools over the last 10-15 years, one would wonder about any study that has shown specific advantages of TBL over PBL or any other methods used in teaching/learning in higher education
I think project based learning is good to be used with medical students. I've trained medical, engineering and science teachers about how to use project based learning in their teaching and it was really good experience.

Beyond those two terms you're looking at constructivism and social constructivism, i.e. theoretical lenses that see students constructing knowledge through interaction with their environment or through interaction with peers, respectively. You'll find lots of literature comparing the two. Often described as the Piaget vs Vygotsky debate.

However, my question is about evidence from research on the impact on students' learning, not about educational design, functionality and what students do.
In other words, do we have substantial evidence regarding impact of Team-Based Learning on students' learning compared to the use of Problem-Based Learning? How strong that evidence if found?

These are two different approaches to learning you can use in teaching learning process. These can be sued according to the requirements. Team based learning must be consist of a group of Learners/Individuals while project based learning can be used for a team or individua person/Learner. To enhance the competency and critical thinking of individual learner now e.g. Universities like use to do the final research MS/MPhil project they shift team based project to individual based project.
