I have prepared nanofluids in different concentrations of alumina nanoparticles using two step method. No surfactant is added so far to study the agglomeration effect in different concentrations of nanoaprticles in the fluid. Should Iconsider sunlight as a factor of agglomeration enhancement?
Subhaib, a nanofluid made by a two-steps method will be less stable than one made in a one-step method because your dry particles will form cluster that are really hard to break, even using a powerful sonic probe. If you don't want to use surfactants or any stabilizer, you should consider putting your nanofluid into a fridge and protected of any light. I'm not really sure how the sunlight have an effect on flocculation (and to what extent) but I have notice that my nanofluids don't flocculate if I don't expose them to light and store them in a cold place.
You should definitely consider sunlight (and in a way any lights) as a factor of agglomeration enhancement. I hope this answer will help you. Good luck with your research!
