There are two ways you could measure the amount of LasA, or any enzyme. (1) An activity assay, especially one that has high specificity for that particular enzyme and does not detect other enzymes that might also be present in the sample. For a protease in a bacterial extract, achieving the necessary level of selectivity might be difficult. (2) A method that detects the protein, rather than its activity, such as an ELISA.
In my opinion, When the discussion of the detection an enzyme, there is talk of the presence or absence of enzyme activity and it is mostly qualitative, but when speaking about the assessment enzyme activity, then the measurement will be quantitative (for example enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) .
