i got the crystallite size of NiFe2O4 of around 40nm from XRD by scherrers method. the TEM image shws the same size of particles of nickel ferrite. so i need the answer for such correlation. if the particles and crystallite size becomes same what happened actually on it? anyone can give the definition with appropriate references.

Crystallite size is different than particle size. With TEM you measure the particle size, whereas with XRD you only can measure the average crystallite size. A particle may be made up of several different crystallites (polycrystalline), just one crystalline (single crystal) or amorphous. This is why always particle size has to be bigger than crystalline (domain) size, or in case of small nanoparticles or if the sample is a single crystal, both of them can be the same. Therefore, mostly size of measured by XRD should be smaller than that measured by TEM.
