Photosynthesis depends upon the absorption of light by the presence of pigments in the leaves of plants. chlorophyll a is the most important one, chlorophyll b also plays a role. However, an optimal photosynthetic activity depends of some other contributors to the absorption. In case of abiotic stresses, in some species, the photosynthetic assimilation of CO2 increases, however the total chlorophyll rate decreses.
