I have observed patients admited for idiopathic ICH that have been discharged with acetazolamide to the follow-up outpatient clinic but have been wondering if there is any indication to control bicarbonate or pH levels regularly in these children. However, I have not found any evidence regarding this subject. Is there just an indication to suspend it if the children presents symptoms (hypoventilation p.e.) or is there neet to preventively assess the values?

In those requiring medical treatment, similar to adult patients, the first line treatment is acetazolamide, that decreasing the secretion or production of CSF from choroid plexus. In children dose of 15–25 mg/kg/day three or four times daily is adequate

@Ricardo Moto, First I have to give attention that ICH is an abbrevistion of intracerebral hemorrhage. IIH is the correct abbreviation of idiopathic intracranial hypertension. This correction was given to me before by Dr Adria Arboix.
Regarding drugs in IH, I think the consensus agree that they have little role and surgery is the main mode of treatment.
Before desribing IH as idiopathic, an effort and investigations should be done trying to uncover a cause. Among other investigations, I would like to highlight MRV on a 3 tesla. It is a non invasive imaging without contrast, which excludes or shows a possible one of several causes.
