in SE Germany two large companies operate open pit mines for kaolin. AKW (Amberg-Kaolin-Werke and Dorfner). Dorfner has a speical branch called Dorfner Anzaplan which is doing trail operations and test processing for different non-metallic commodities, among others kaolin. They should give you a piece of advice.

I am dealing with kaolin deposits but only in the up-stream part, exploration and quality  control of run-off mine kaolin using field-based methods.

Thank you for your comments which it is useful. I have already visited some Kaolin processing plants in eastern part of Germany (Saxony) but not the mentioned plant by you (Dorfner) however I believe almost of them handled the job via AKW.

there were peviously three companies working in that mining district, AKW, Kick and Dorfner. AKW and Kick now are under under the umbrella of "Quarzwerke". Currenly there are two separate companies working the same stratigraphic section of the lower Triassic Bunter series in the foreland of the "Naabgebirge". There are also some companies working on a different geological type of kaolin deposits in the Westerwald and Rheinland-Pfalz.. I will provide you with a selection of studies later, as it takes some time to sort them out  for your special purpose.
