I have four unknows microfiber and their Raman spectra. They supposed to be microplastics (polymers). I have compared the spectra with PP, PE ,PS, PET, PVC, Nylon, Cotton, PU, PEG (PEO), but no one matches. I need to identify the fibers.
I think to continue comparing with less common fibers, but could be an endless work.
The range of raman peacks is similiar to almost every polymer , so, its not possible to infer the material directly from the spectra with no comparission.
I have no a data base either.
Does anyone have other idea how to identify the fibers?

You have to identify the functional groups. From their presence or absence you get clues about the molecular structure and can exclude certain possibilities. The alternative is to use a Raman spectra database.
Are you just trying to figure out what the polymer structure is? If the building has a complex structure or blend, it is very difficult to solve it in raman. why don't you try a different analysis try on DSC,DMA etc
The samples are microfibers, 1 mm length and few microns of width. I can not destroy them and are really difficut to handle.
I will try to identify functional groups.
