Is there an easy way to collect samples from coagulated blood for PCR protocol?

The sample was wrongly collected in a red top tube instead of EDTA one. And the patient can't be reached.

I thought of sonnicating the sample but I guess it will ruin the DNA?!..

As far as I know it is possible, but it depends on where is contained the source of the DNA you want to get... I mean, if you need plasma for you PCR protocol I think you will not be able to get it; but if your DNA source is a parasit allowed inside a blood cell I think it could be posssible...
