I want to make a ZnO thin film of nanoscale for using as a electron transport layer in organic/perovskite solar cells. In most of the papers, the fabrication of such film is reported from zinc acetate precursor. Is there a way to fabricate the Zno film directly from nanoparticles, for example dispersing them in a solvent, like methanol ?
Try MOCVD based ZnO growth (bottom-up) approach. By adjusting growth condition one can get desirable layer parameters.

There is ZnO nano powder and dispersion. So, you can use nano particles to make a suspension in a easily volatile organic solvents that can be spun on the substrate. You can give a try by spin coating technique as it is easier and requires little amount of sample. Choose a solvent so that it can be effective in giving film with uniform coverage. But please make sure that the processed film could show the electrical behaviour (n-type) as you have mentioned that this layer is going to be act as ETL. In some cases, dripping of solvents during spin coating is also in concern in order to get good films. I am working on perovskite solar cells and I am using DMF/DMSO as solvent for spin coating which is well known solvent for getting perovskite films.

You can disperse your ZnO nanoparticles in an volatile organic solvent with a binder. Further, adjust the viscosity using rota evaporation depending on the coating technique. (usually a slurry for blade techniques and low viscous solution for other deposition techniques). Finally after coating, make sure your solvent is evaporated and binder is burned out.
