The best option here is using "User Defined" function in ANSYS DesignModeler. Basically, you can define a custom sketch that represent the cross section of a profile.

Open ANSYS DesignModeler, from the top menu click "Concept" and then choose "Cross Section". At the end of its menu you click "User Defined" and start creating the cross section.

After you completed the custom cross section, then later on you can use it for defining your structure profile.

I guess that your finite element model is made of 'truss' and 'beam' elements, which only require area and quadratic moments as geometrical input. They can be calculated easy by hand, or by a CAD software,  by considering that - I guess, too - the bridge is formed by simple I, L, C, .... members.

Although you can use the 'custom section' tool in Ansys Apdl, you can also input directly the values of A, Ix, Iy, calculated as above. Ok, somewhat tedious, but the bridge should have not so many different beam types. Furthermore, this approach also provides a mean to check the values for possible mistakes.

I would like to thank you for your input. I am using ANSYS Spaceclaim. I created a cross section in spaceclaim and saved it as scdoc format. I was trying to import the cross section from the saved file but received an error stating "Profile must have a coordiante system. Profile must have a single body."

Would you please explain what this means? Just getting started with an ANSYS, so I am having a lot of queries.

I'm not sure how this would be possible to create the cross section in SC and importing it to DM. I mean, I can't suggest anything since I haven't done that in the past. I strongly suggest that you create the cross section directly in DM and apply it to all the profiles, this way you definitely reduce the complexity of the process of generating your model. Creating sketch in DM is not that difficult and with a little bit of research you can manage to do it.

Finite element software is not powerful in terms of creating complex and custom objects. I recommend using AutoCad-3D and import the object in Abaqus.

The bridge is more than 100 years old. I doubt that there is a CAD model (.step, .iges) for it. However, you might be interested in
