I would like to check my staining solution before I stain a slide with it.

For the Iron Hematoxylin stain, I can put some drops of staining solution in tap water to check whether it gives a nice blue color. This means it is OK. Is there a similar way to check for Carazzi's?

If not, can the way white blood cells stain tell me something about the quality of the staining solution?
