I analyze my specimens by DSC and I want to know if there is a way to determine the variation of the grain size using this result after heat treatment before using the DRX.
I do not feel so as DSC measures thermal transitions associated with phase change. It does not count for partilce history only thing the instrument provides about amorphous or crystalline nature of particles.
It is absolutely impossible to get any info regarding the variation of grain size from DSC. You can use X-ray diffraction to obtain the mean (average) crystallite size of your powder.
Dear M. Bendoumia, in the book "Analytical characterization of Aluminum, steel and superalloys" by Mackenzie and Totten there is a section "5.4.3 DETERMINING PARTICLE SIZE FROM DSC" you could take a look in this book, but I´m agree with Muhammad DSC is not the way for grain size. I recommend you direct methods like microscopy.
