I want to make a simple model of a double effect chiller for control purposes. I checked the literature and there some really complicated and detailed model, which are good to study and develop chiller design. I was wondering if there is simple way to model a chiller.
There are complex models for chillers, see some of John Burns works on optimal control. He treats them as a control volume, I think but not sure. You can take one of these continuous-parameter models and discretize it and then reduce its order. Or you can from the beginning use finite element or Galerkin methods to model the process.
You can use the overall energy and mass balance around the chiller to get the state variables such as temperature, flowrate and cooling load for control design
