We can not find a strain of E. coli pop 154 that has transduced receptor for bacteriophage Lambda (LamB) from Shigella Sonnei. Therefore we would like to get non-toxic strain of Shigella sonnei, from where we could isolate targeted protein.

His group from Carnegie Mellon University recently published a paper (Ionic Switch Controls the DNA State in Phage λ) using that strain. They also published in PNAS two years ago (Solid-to-fluid–like DNA transition in viruses facilitates infection).
There are avirulent strains of Shigella sonnei, but they are all still classified as BSL-2 for safety reasons.
We found strain e. coli pop 154 in The Collection of Institute Pasteur (CIP). We were not able to order this transduced E. coli strain, because like S. sonnei, they are both in BSL 2. Also we considered contacting dr. Evilevitch, but since he works on the other continent, shipping biological material to Europe would be a challenge.
