The genetic control and molecular machinery implementing response of single-celled autotrophs (microaglae and cyanobacteria) to phosphorus starvation are relatively well studied. This is seemingly not the case for luxury phosphorus uptake. Would you share your insignt and/or suggest a good (review) paper on this?
We are interested in practical solutions for algal blooms (see article below). But we are also interested in novel approaches that can be the effective treatments of tomorrow. I am interested in seeing more of you work!

Thank you very much, Victor, it is instructive. As you can see from our profile, we are looking for the ways to unlock the P uptake capacity of microalgae and to use the resulting P-rich biomass as biofertilizer (in collaboration with Dr. Ladislav Nedbal and C° from Forschungszentrum Juelich in frame of ALGANUTRIENT project). Hopefully some findings will be applicable at a larger scale. So please stay tuned ,-)
In our recent research, we found those marine microalgae exhibiting the highest capacity for exchanging phospholipids and betaine lipids were those showing their maximum luxury phosphate uptake. Please find attached file.
